Shipyard Kooiman van Os delivered the fitted-out Pieter Bruegel to shipping company Vloot DAB in Antwerp. The ferry will be used for the ferry service between Hoboken and Kruibeke in Belgium.
The vessel measures 28.65 x 9 metres, has a draught of 2.49 metres and is suitable for transporting 240 persons, including any bicycles. The Pieter Bruegel is equipped with two Scania Di12 S9M engines, two rudder propellers and two Stamford generator sets. The hull for the ferry was built elsewhere and supplied by the client, after which Shipyard Kooiman Hoebee in Dordrecht took care of the fitting out.
Making use of our own electrical engineering agency, engineering works, pipe fitters, interior carpentry and air-conditioning and ventilation specialists, we performed the installation and fitting out in a short space of time. Despite the starting point being a hull which was already old, the level of finishing was of a very high quality.
We endeavoured to include a number of environmentally-friendly aspects in the fitting out. For instance, the vessel runs on low-sulphur fuel, heat is extracted from the cooling water of the diesel engines, and the vessel has extra insulation and double glazing in the wheel house.
