F.J.M. Hubregtse & van de Berge VOF commissioned Shipyard Gebr. Kooiman BV to build the Dutch Power. In the implementation and function, the experience of Marinus Hubregtse and his crew has been put to full use, resulting in a vessel which completely answers the customer’s requirements. This new tugboat will be used for surveying, transport and anchor handling assistance.
The tug-workboat, measuring 29.80 x 9.50 x 2.50 metres, was built under the inspection of Lloyd’s Register of Shipping and classified as: 100 A1 TUG-LMC-UMS and NSI A3. The 1,600 HP Mitsubishi engines are of the S16R-MPTA type with Reintjes reverse gears. Veth supplied the tunnel thrusters, the electrical drive of which was provided by Bakker in Sliedrecht. A third Mitsubishi provides 392 KVA energy. Two John Deere generators deliver the voltage. Alfa Laval separates the fuel.
The Dutch Power is equipped with an enormous Heila crane which lifts 9.5 tonnes on the stern. A strong Maaskant towing winch and Mampaey towing hook in combination with towing cables and chains, form the equipment for the Dutch Power task. Hydromarine in Papendrecht realized the hydraulics for equipment including the tugger winches, pins and a system for grabbing the towing line during work. Alphatron supplied the communication and navigation systems. Kooiman Ship Electric was responsible for the electrical system.
