Shipyard Gebr. Kooiman delivered the new pusher boat ‘Veerhaven III’ to shipping company ThyssenKrupp Veerhaven. This addition to the Veerhaven fleet will be used for the transport of iron ore to the Ruhr area via the Rhine.
Veerhaven III’, also known as ‘Waterbuffel’, is a copy of the previous pusher boat built by the Kooiman Marine Group for ThyssenKrupp Veerhaven: ‘Veerhaven XI – IJsbeer’. It measures 40 metres in length and 15 metres in breadth.
For this order, all activities were carried out by Kooiman Marine Group. From design to fitting out, everything was done in-house. Sections were built by Shipyard Kooiman Hoebee and Shipyard Kooiman Van Os. The electrical system was done by Kooiman Ship Electric, while Kooiman’s own carpentry department delivered the entire accommodation.
When ‘Veerhaven III’ was christened, it was also awarded the prestigious Green Award. This certificate was established to monitor sustainability for the environment, but also for the inland shipping sector itself.
