The skipper of the container ship Devotion, active on the ARA inland shipping, contacted Kooiman Ship Interiors because the accommodation space in the metal shell of the stern was sagging. After inspection and investigation, the only solution was to dismantle the entire house and rebuild it.
The entire build-up, isolation and floors are removed and disposed of. What remained was an empty shell. A solid insulating layer has been applied to the floor over which a thick wooden floor has been applied. The floor is finished with electric underfloor heating and tiling. The windows have been cleaned and reassembled to prevent future leaks. The walls are completely insulated and provided with a front wall and finished with renovation non-woven wallpaper. The ceiling is lowered and sprayed finished. Herein spotlights and air conditioning concealed in.
The layout of the accommodation section in consultation with the customer something changed in some respects. There are two double rooms, two kitchens and two bathrooms, separate toilets, five bedrooms, corridor, hall and refrigerated storage cupboard. The design and materialization was done in collaboration with the customer. The living and sleeping area has a modern, luxurious appearance with beautiful details and high-quality workmanship through design, execution and choice of materials. The project was carried out by a large team of different disciplines.
