Shipyard Kooiman Hoebee in Dordrecht was commissioned by V.O.F. Fata Morgana (T.C. Heuvelman) to deliver the newbuild hopper barge Fata Morgana. The vessel measures 86 x 10.50 metres and has a loading capacity of 2,090 tonnes. It is a design from Kooiman Engineering which was developed from earlier Van Duijvendijk vessels.
The hull was built on order of Shipyard Kooiman Hoebee by the Serbian Bomex4M shipyard. The fitting out and finishing took place at Shipyard Kooiman Hoebee. The result is a sturdy hopper barge with generous aft and fore accommodations and ample equipment.
The aft accommodation has a pressure differential system for the transport of contaminated dredged material. Classic dump valves are located in the bottom. The fore and aft hold bulkheads also have hydraulic slides for loading at water level. The hopper floor has three drains with a total of six drainage pipes. The inner bottom is made from strong Hardox steel.
There is a double covered garage with a 16-metre car crane on the foredeck. The deck has been implemented as an elegant pusher platform to create more working space.
