BNR 173 - Zwerver I

multi-purpose shallow draught triple propelled workboat

Shipyard Gebr. Kooiman BV, member of Kooiman Marine Group, has delivered a multi-purpose work ship ‘Zwerver I’ to HvS Dredging Support in Harlingen. The most important elements of this work ship are the limited draught, the large, low work deck and the most powerful deck equipment ever installed on a vessel of this size thus far.

In order to create a continuous work deck from the stern to the bow, the deckhouse is positioned on the port side of the vessel. The ‘Zwerver I’ type vessel is a steel, self-propelled multi-purpose work ship with a generously sized work deck for supply activities and other work facilities.

The hull of the work ship is divided into five watertight compartments:

  • The forepeak with ballast tank and chain locker
  • The accommodation compartment with bow thruster room
  • A workshop compartment
  • The engine room compartment
  • The steering gear compartment

The accommodation compartment houses a washing area, a galley, two two-person crew cabins and two cabins with single officer beds.

The hull consists of a flat section on the centre line and bottom plating with a minimum deadrise. The vessel has Bureau Veritas classification BV 1 Hull • Mach Tug Unrestricted Navigation AUT-UMS.

The drawing of the ship is characterized by a large superstructure with the wheel house on top of it and two HS Marine hydraulic deck cranes on the fore and aft decks. The superstructure is positioned on the edge on the port side of the vessel, creating space for two 40-foot containers or a 1,200 mm diameter dredge pipe.

The work deck around the deckhouse and winches has a hardwood surface. The steel deck beneath the winches and the deckhouse is level with the wooden deck and bears one hydraulic anchor winch on the foredeck and a hydraulic tugger winch on the aft deck, two quick-release Maypaey towing hooks, two Brevini tugger winches and mooring bollards. The towing hooks have a safe working load of 15 tonnes and can be opened remotely by means of a steel wire. Two hydraulic guide pins are incorporated in the foredeck.
